Armani Fiori: The world of flowers according to King George's style.

Tributo a Giorgio Armani

With Milan Fashion Week approaching, the world of floral design also wants to pay a tribute of profound gratitude to the pure genius of Giorgio Armani, or rather King Giorgio, as he was nicknamed due to his unrepeatable talent and the immense admiration with which he was regarded throughout the world.

Having recently passed away at the age of 91, the designer would have celebrated 50 years of his dazzling career with a show at the Brera Academy on September 28th, during Fashion Week. Thanks to his extraordinary creativity and unparalleled style, King Giorgio was able to shape a universe and every facet of our daily lives, educating us about beauty and creating not only a brand with timeless appeal, but a true lifestyle. An entire universe that encompasses fashion, the home, hospitality, cosmetics, and floral design.

Armani has also left a recognisable mark in this sector, opening his first boutique in Milan in 2000, at Via Manzoni 31. Armani/Flowers(Followed by Dubai, Kuwait City, and Hong Kong). To celebrate his fervent passion for flowers, which have always been a powerful source of inspiration, including in the creation of his clothes, the designer presented the volume Armani Fiori to the public in 2023, published by Rizzoli. This coffee-table book is a must-have for any enthusiast of fashion, design, and Ikebana, the Japanese art of arranging cut flowers, showcasing every detail.

All the floral arrangements, similar to works of art, unmistakably evoke this style with their understated sophistication, essential lines, and compositional rigor. The volume is enhanced by an undeniable aesthetic pleasure, clearly following the canons of Armani's unmistakable style. It features a silk cover, a visible binding on the spine, and Japanese-style inserts. The interior is laid out over 192 pages with 200 splendid illustrations and texts written by Armani himself, with the participation of trusted collaborators such as Harriet Quick, Dan Rubinstein, and Renato Bruni. The result is a sophisticated paper garden, from which to draw inspiration that will never have an expiration date, because King George's style will never go out of style, given that it already contains that breath of eternity reserved only for legends.

Even in the our floral design courses Flower School, when we address the topic of modern and contemporary styleWe often draw inspiration from Giorgio Armani's aesthetic. His ability to combine essential elegance, clean lines, and timeless sophistication is a precious point of reference for us.

Just as Armani revolutionized the world of fashion with a sober yet distinctive style, we strive to convey to our students the importance of floral design that is simultaneously minimal, harmonious, and deeply evocative. We demonstrate how these influences can translate into the choice of materials, balanced color palettes, and the construction of compositions that combine formal rigor and artistic sensibility.
