Original and precious invitations as unique pieces: Calligraphy and Wedding

Wedding announcements and invitations: why they are important

Wedding announcements and invitations are extremely important because, in addition to providing practical information, they also convey the style and atmosphere of the wedding day.

We work hard to get to that day, and from the moment we say "I do," we want to tell everyone! We're getting married! How many will share in this happiness?

And so we think of Participations, or rather the most "institutional" means of conveying this important communication.

Elegant, modern or traditional invitations?

Whether they're elegant, modern, or traditional, the key is consistency: with the couple's personality, the wedding style, and everything you want to communicate.

Personalization is the key feature if you want to create memorable announcements and invitations.

A wedding is an event where love reigns supreme and emotions play a vital role. Keep in mind that the invitation is the first contact between the bride and groom and their guests, who should be thrilled to receive it!

D) I want to tell you about something that fascinated me from the first time I met it: is this where “Beautiful Letters” comes in?

A) Yes! Beautiful Letters is a calligraphy and design studio specializing in wedding and private event communications.  In Novara, we have a studio where Cristina, the owner, and Marco, who collaborates as a calligrapher, invite couples who want to see our work and experience the "workshop" atmosphere: admire the work, touch the paper, be inspired by the colors of the inks, browse the pens and nibs, and suggest the mood for their event...

D) Do you also have a “Catalog” or do you only do “custom”

A) We have a lot of material relating to projects created for wonderful “styling shoots” in Italy and abroad and work for weddings already completed. To be clear, we don't have a "catalog" like a printer's and we never repeat the same project! We work on a project basis, so that Every bride has her own "wedding suite": paper, colors, personalized calligraphy style, and decoration. And within each calligraphy style, we can utilize different "hands" and styles.

D) What differentiates you from a graphic design studio, even one dedicated to weddings?

A) I am very happy to answer this question because it touches on the very heart of our profession: we have decided to use the “lever” of calligraphy instead of the font or typeface. This is what makes each project special: it's truly special and unique, "original" in every sense of the word. We currently use English Cursive, Engrossers, Cancelleresca, Spencerian, Modern, and American Cursive styles. Depending on the project, we employ a style in an academic manner, although, where possible, we can make some customizations.

D) Why do you talk about “communication” in relation to participations?

A) As mentioned before, a wedding is an event that touches the emotions. We believe that elegant calligraphy speaks and communicates directly to the heart. Even subliminally.

Q) Does participating in a venture require an investment in terms of both time and money?

A) Writing a text by hand with a pen requires all the time necessary and, above all, in addition to ability and continuous study, concentration, silence, tranquility, correct posture, and breathing. These are the elements necessary to achieve the ideal atmosphere. This is the time for calligraphy, and we dedicate all the time necessary to the couples who choose us...

D) How did you get here?

R) Artistic ability, innate talent as a calligrapher, painter, illustrator, creative artist, and graphic designer, combined with a desire to continually learn with dedication and perseverance from top-level calligraphy masters. And every day or evening, countless hours with pen and ink in hand.

D) What are your hopes for the future?

A) We choose to work for couples who love the beauty and charm of calligraphy. We want to focus on the quality of our work, convinced that elegance comes from the harmony of the lines left by a pen guided by a hand inspired by Beauty and Love.

D) If we wanted to give advice to spouses, what are the 3 must-haves they must have in their wedding, referring to the world of calligraphy?

R) Make sure all guests find  your name handwritten at your place at the table: handwriting is a sign of great hospitality.

Express your calligraphed thanks live to each guest, thanks to the calligrapher's presence, during a special moment of the wedding day.

Incorporate calligraphy and graphics into your wedding moodboard right from the start to create a seamless blend of styles, colors, and art, from the Save the Date to the thank you notes!

A heartfelt thank you to Beautiful Letters for this interview.
