This article is dedicated to you, to you who want to get busy.
How many times have I heard this phrase, how many times have I read in the eyes of people who approach my world with curiosity a strong desire to follow in my footsteps... I've heard people say "one in a thousand makes it", "you managed to turn your passion into a job!".
Maybe I've made it a little, but only a tiny bit! I still have so much more to go... so much is in my heart, and the vision I have, everything I want to give, is so big, so ambitious, but also so inspiring!
I think it's fair to tell you that it wasn't and isn't easy.
It may seem trivial to say, but it is the result of so much hard work and commitment, always and in any case.
My boundless passion for flowers, my love of balance and beauty, my connection with nature have been significant factors in this journey of mine. My curiosity, my enthusiasm, and my deep affection for all of you are the essential fuel for finding motivation and determination every day.
“Where there’s a will, there’s a way,” “Be the change you want to be,” “Choose a job you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life,” “Stay hungry, stay foolish”—all beautiful and true phrases…but let’s be clear, living on aphorisms and quotes isn’t enough.
Start with the fact that those who utter such wise words uttered them after a long journey, after having gained their own experience. And it's as if we expected to understand all the steps, ingredients, and quantities of a recipe by simply eating the finished dish... do you understand? (Examples involving cooking usually always work!)
Today we're inventing the recipe! Today it's our turn, your turn.
These quotes can be inspiring and inspiring, but the thought that comes to mind every time I read them is: what is, what will be my quote?
What will emerge from my life, from my experience? What can I convey in this passage? Small or large, it doesn't matter...but I'd like to leave something behind.
It's like saying... I don't just want to be subjected to the wisdom of others... I'd like to build my own wisdom and contribute too!
And so here I am at the crux of the matter: my work, so romantic, poetic and apparently “fabulous”, is also made up of study, hard work, planning, organisation and entrepreneurial risk.
It's filled with successes, but also with fears, anxieties, and disappointments over something I hoped for that didn't materialize... but in my life, someone has taught me tenacity, no matter what, someone else has taught me what determination is, someone else perseverance... and so on... and this is because I've taken every encounter as a wonderful opportunity to grow. If I may offer some advice, you should do the same.
You will discover that every meeting becomes an opportunity to learn, always!
My work involves early mornings, constant research, physical and mental fatigue, study... lots of study... even things I've never enjoyed. It's about rigor and self-discipline. It's about commitment and responsibility to the people who look to me for help, for inspiration, whether small or large.
My life is made of creativity and dreams but also of plans and projections, it is also made of many, many planning and Excel spreadsheets!
Staying on the subject of quotes, I'll adopt an advertisement slogan (modified to Silviadeifiori, of course!) and, as I always say in my courses: "Creativity is nothing without control." What does this mean? It means that if you want to turn your passion into a career—if you truly want to never work a single day in your life—be prepared to work hard. If you're creative and a dreamer, you'll have to go against nature and weigh down your feet so you don't fly too far and get lost in the clouds of creativity. If you're rigid and pragmatic, you'll have to try to let go and perhaps listen to your instincts a little more...
But above all, work hard, seek out the effort, effort tempers us, sharpens our wits... don't look for shortcuts, you'd lose the essence and miss out on the best. If you're looking for inspiration and want to make a difference, disconnect from social media that gives you a thousand identical inputs... instead, let's walk in the woods, observe nature, go to an exhibition, observe the details of jewelry or tailored dresses... let's simply observe our cities, our houses, our architectural styles... let's start with what's already there.
It may seem more difficult, but I guarantee that working with little makes you work better!
Every year I set aside a budget for my "training effort" as I call it... and in addition to courses related to my sector around the world, I choose something that apparently has nothing to do with it.
This year, I'm considering a refresher course in business management (so heavy!) and a tailoring course...do I make you laugh? It might make you smile, but I'm sure this course will spark something exciting in my ever-changing mind!
I conclude with a smile and yet another quote: remember that "all that glitters is not gold!" with the hope that on your path you may meet many stimulating and enlightening people, but above all, a lot, a lot of hard work!
A hug to all of you, beloved flowers!
Silvia
